Captain :
Mike Tapper
Having lead the Mighty BGCC to successive league titles is bidding for the hatrick this season. Lead the troops from the front & topped 500 runs for the seaon. Enjoys smaller grounds where boundaries are frequent and his dignity is saved from public displays of his running style.(Skip:Am still fielder of the year so rumours of funny running style deeply unfounded!).Copes admirably under pressure, and with the demands of various players to bowl. He does have a breaking point though so when he loses his temper watch out for his handbag!!
Vice Captain :
Paul Tipping
Very much the quiet man of the 1st XI, with new responsibilities this season, injuries permitting. Pushed Billy S-M for the most injured player last year, mainly being unable to get out of the way of the ball!
Players
Alex Bell
Purveyor of some of the finest full tosses & long hops in the league, but seems to posses a 'Golden Arm'. Was the skips 'go to bowler' for much of last season. Should maybe bat a little higher in the order, but sure that Taps enjoys the wind up value of batting Ding Dong lower down!!!
Richard Brown
In his third season with 'The Mighty Green', sometimes spiteful medium pace bowler, and a useful belter of the ball down the order. Not a batsman to please the eye of the purist, but fun to watch on his day. a bit slower in the field than he used to be, but that comes to all of us eventually!!!
Mike Duncan
Mike continues to improve his league form, average and total runs scored up for the second season in a row. At this rate he will score 700 runs at an average of 60+ in around 2050. Despite this surge in form has yet to be called upon to bowl, still he can work on that in the second half of the century!
Mark Haines
Should be full of energy this year, having had a rare year off from making babies. Has never been got out at nets & never drops a catch.
Dan Jordan
Rumoured to be making a welcome return to BGCC this year. The one remaining member of the Jordan clan not taking the filthy money! Useful left hander when on his game, Dans form is always dependant on new arrivals behind the bar at 'The Oak' and 'The Dukes'!
Bob Middlemiss
Josh Miller
John Ratcliffe
Can bat anywhere from 1 to 11 and may have to again now that Joey has lost his conscience and joined North Holmwood, used to bowl. With the departure of West End to the Fullers league John has been looking for new teams to despise. Current favorites are South Nutfield and East Horsley. Next year he intends to further indulge in polite conversation with the opposition batsmen about the finer points of their technique.
Billy Scott-Malden
The fittest player in the league. Has a very polite appeal. Would be Mike Duncans vice captain in a posh XI. Spent much of last year on the physios couch, mainly due to some Ronaldo like exploits at Albury. Probably remains the only Brockham player to mainline drugs during a game!
Owen Taylor
Gerard Weide
Left hand bat all rounder. Hits the ball miles, takes loads of wickets but struggles to take a catch and will need a new mortgage to cover all the fines!
Chris Weill
Just ahead of Mark Haines as most agile fielder in the club. Picked up some very important wickets towards end of season. Wescott's loss is our gain. Someone needs to buy him a razor though!
